main dangers in summer for Xolo

June 25, 2023

It is a hot summer outside?

Are there mosquitoes?

Dangerous grass for dogs ripening?

I'm probably a little late in writing about the main dangers of this season for xolo, so I'm sorry, but not writing about the threat would be even worse.

So:

1. Mosquitoes are the main carriers of heartworms (worms that they swallow with the blood of infected animals).

Then the heartworms develop in the mosquito's body. The mosquito then bites a healthy dog, infecting it with heartworm disease. The dog develops these worms. Eventually, the parasites penetrate the heart and pulmonary arteries, where they mature.

A few years ago, there were isolated cases, but today the number of sick animals has increased significantly.

My friends have already had their dogs diagnosed with this disease.

These helminths should not be underestimated, because they eventually cause chronic heart failure, collapse and death of the animal.

What to do.

First of all, prevent mosquito bites, especially unprotected naked xolo (without hair).

To do this, you need to carry out regular treatment of the xolo, for example, give complex antiparasitic tablets once a month.

I recently tried a bio-collar against fleas, ticks and mosquitoes for dogs.

For me, the fact that it can be used for puppies from the age of 2 months was important.

I am still checking the result.

This was the first of three planned posts about summer dangers for Xolo.
